Dear Tim:

As promised, I’m submitting this info for the USMCVTA web site. I’m certain of the names and dates, as I still have my memo pad that I carried in my utility trouser pocket all through Nam, and it lists all the crewmen by tank, their serial numbers, DOR, rotation date, etc. What is interesting is the turnover in personnel we had in just 34 days at Con Thien during the infamous siege. As for the platoon pictures, I was not sure how you would go about putting them on a web page, as I am not real adept at that stuff If there is a better way, let me know and l will try it.

As for the book project, what I wish to say is this:

Jim Coan, a former platoon leader with Alpha Company, 3rd Tanks, 1967-68, is doing research for a book on Con Thien. He is writing an historical account of the battles that took place during 1967-69 in the vicinity of Con Thien during such operations as Prairie I, II, III, and IV, Hickory, Buffalo, Kingfisher, and Kentucky; plus, the Tet ‘68 attack on Cam Lo District Hdqs. He would like to hear from any former tankers who were there and who are interested in assisting him with this project. Contact Jim at e-mail Zzjimco@aol.com.

Semper Fidelis,
Jim Coan
