YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY RETIREMENT!!!

There is a little known program/benefit for people who've served in the
military from 1940 to Jan 2002.  In a nutshell it boils down to this:

Credited for years of active duty through 2001 (the program was done away  with in January 2002)

Up to $1200 per year of earnings credit can be credited at time of application (see below websites for more detail) .

Bring in your DD-214 to Social Security Office - you must ask for this benefit to receive it!

Soc Sec website:    http://www.socialsecurity.gov/retire2/military.htm

If you already know about this, sorry to have bothered you.  For those of you who did not have this info it is something to put in your files for when you apply for Social Security down the road.  It is not just for retirees but anyone who has served on active duty prior to January 2002.

Please feel free to forward this to all our guys so they can benefit from it.

The purpose of the of the USMC Vietnam Tankers Association is to ensure our legacy through reunion, renewal and remembrance by  fostering the camaraderie, friendships and memories of those that served in America's longest and most controversial war. To provide an organization that will research, document and record the histories of those individuals and units that served in the First, Third and Fifth Tank Battalions in the Republic of South Vietnam from 1965, to and including 1970. And, to further ensure that the USMCVTA will continue as a nonprofit veterans organization serving all Marine Corps tankers of the Vietnam War era.

To  research and archive historical documents relating to Vietnam Marine Corps Tank Units. To publish historical literature, documents and publications as to the facts as it relates to individual tankers, attached personnel and tank units during the Vietnam War. To provide a place to have and hold reunions for the purposes stated above. To ensure that the purposes of the United States Marine Corps Vietnam Tankers Association as set forth in its articles of incorporation are continued.

The United States Marine Corps Vietnam Tankers Association is for you if you served with a tanker MOS or were attached to any tank battalion in the Marine Corps or Navy  from 1965, to 1970, in the Republic of South Vietnam; you are qualified to join.  It doesn't matter whether you served as a tank crewman or was an office clerk.  The only requirement is that you served with a Marine Corps tank battalion during the Vietnam War.

July 3-5, 1999, the first reunion of the USMC Vietnam Tankers was held near Washington, DC.  At an organizational meeting held on the reunion's second day a decision was made to organize the Vietnam tankers.  It was unanimously voted on by all 58 former Vietnam tankers, which included former Officers and Enlisted personnel, to become a 501 (c) 19, a nonprofit war era veterans association.

Membership in the USMCVTA includes:  The right to participate in all meetings and reunions,  receive a Vietnam Tankers newsletter, the Sponson Box, a current  membership roster, assistance in finding former Vietnam buddies. Special notices for and about Vietnam veteran issues.  Your individual histories to be published in historical publications dealing with your experiences while attached to any tank battalion in Vietnam.  Assistance with claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs. An opportunity to help others, who served with pride and distinction.

Membership doesn't cost, when you consider all of the benefits, ...it pays!
